Lesedi Cultural Village Tour and Dinner
You’ll be met at Terminal B (Domestic Arrivals) after your flight from Durban, and if you’d like – taken to your overnight accommodation in Kempton Park.
The drive to Lesedi Cultural Village – through the north-western suburbs of Johannesburg and the scenic hills approaching the Cradle of Humankind, should take an hour plus – traffic dependent.
On arrival at Lesedi Cultural Village, you’ll be greeted by members of the Ndebele Tribe.
If time allows, there are a number of curio shops, with a selection of handmade African crafts and curios, showcasing local artistry and design, that you can browse.
Your tour kicks off at 4.30pm with a multimedia presentation on the origins of South Africa’s indigenous peoples.
This is followed by a guided walk through various tribal homesteads – including those of the Zulu, Basotho, Pedi and Xhosa communities.
The tour ends with a performance in the Boma, where traditional stories and rituals are showcased through dance, drumming and song, offering a lively storytelling experience.
Dinner is an African buffet feast served in the Nyama Choma restaurant at 6.30pm.
The food is authentic African cuisine and adds to your traditional experience.
You’ll leave Lesedi around 8.00pm, and arrive back in Kempton Park, sometime after 9.00pm.
Please note, all travel times are estimates.

Cradle of Humankind Tour
• The caves are not wheelchair friendly.
You will be collected from your overnight accommodation in Kempton Park at 09:00 for a scenic drive, of roughly 90 minutes, to the Cradle of Humankind.
The route, once again, travels through the north-western suburbs of Johannesburg before opening into expansive grasslands and rocky hills.
This renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site is celebrated for its significant paleoanthropological discoveries.
Your first stop is at Sterkfontein Caves.
Following a brief visit to the on-site exhibition and museum, a specialist guide will lead you on a guided underground tour through the cave – exploring the chambers where famous hominid fossils such as ‘Mrs. Ples’ and ‘Little Foot’ were unearthed.
An option for lunch, which is time dependent, is at an interesting restaurant nearby.
Lunch is for your own expense.
We’ll then continue to the Maropeng Visitor Centre, which is an award-winning museum that offers a fascinating, and interactive, journey through the story of human evolution — from the origins of the universe to the emergence of modern humankind.
The experience is both engaging and visually rich, making it ideal for visitors of all ages.
Departure from Maropeng will be in the mid-afternoon – arriving back in Kempton Park, 90 minutes or so later.
Please note, all travel times are estimates.
